I was invited to do the photography for GUM (Glasgow University Magazine) for the 2021 Issue 1.
It was a really interesting learning experience and I really enjoyed working with like minded individuals.
It was also amazing to see my photograhy on the front page and the editorial page.
I loved working with a stylist who organised the outfits and locations which I felt went really well with the aim of the shoot.
The theme was 'Body' and was to focus on the fragility and impermeability of the body.
The goal was to show Bodies of Art, a parody of romanticism, eurocentrocity and partriarchial history in traditional art work.
The poses were to replicate those of classic traditional paintings. I also feel like the rich colour scheme in the indoor shoot of specifically the red backdrop really added to this aesthetic.
This shoot was done in Pollock Park, Glasgow just as the leaves were turning that gorgeous burnt orange and falling to the ground. I beleive this also added to the renaissance feel.
Most of these images were published in the online and paper copy of GUM which was distributed across campus and in several local hubs.
It was really interesting working with complete strangers and I learnt a lot. I
Editing was also difficult as it was to a whole teams preferances rather than my own. However, this was exciting as I got to experiment with new styles I wouldn't have done myself.
There was also a quick turn around for editing as the shoot had been delayed due to location changes because of Covid-19. I feel this added to the thrill of working with a bigger team and in the end everything came together very well.
Thank you to GUM for asking me to do the photography on this edition.
